SEND Support Worker - Pathways 2 Purpose
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you believe in empowering individuals to live with independence, confidence, and purpose?
Pathways 2 Purpose is a new social care provision based in Middlesbrough at Trinity Methodist Church Middlesbrough, TS5 4JS. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Support Worker to join our growing team.
About Us
At Pathways 2 Purpose, we are committed to creating opportunities for young adults with SEND across the Tees Valley to thrive. We support young adults who:
• Are autistic, neurodivergent, or have communication and interaction needs.
• Are seeking to develop independence, social engagement and employment skills.
• Require structured, purpose-driven support to build self-motivation and achieve their goals.
• Want to have fun, meet new people, and create lifelong friendships.
Our approach is built around our Life Purpose Learning (LPL) programmes,
combined with a strong ethos of:
• Trauma-Informed Practice – Understanding past experiences to build strong emotional foundations.
• Person-Centred Support – Tailoring every aspect of the programme to individual strengths, needs, and
ambitions.
• Holistic Development – Focusing equally on life skills, emotional well-being,
employment readiness, and social inclusion.
• Specialist Staffing – A team of highly trained staff with expertise in SEND.
We believe every young adult deserves the chance to live with meaning,
independence, and community.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you will:
• Provide support to young adults with SEND in achieving their personal goals.
• Facilitate and support the delivery of activities within our Life Purpose Learning programmes, including:
• Independent Living Workshops (budgeting, cooking, self-care).
• Volunteering Pathways (exploring roles and community opportunities).
• Social Skills Development (confidence-building and friendships).
• Personal Mentorship (guidance to strengthen resilience and well-being).
• Community Engagement (supporting access to local activities and services).
• Work in a trauma-informed and person-centred way, ensuring that each individual’s needs, aspirations and choices are respected and supported.
• Encourage inclusion, independence, and positive outcomes through meaningful experiences.
About You
We are looking for people who are:
• Compassionate, patient, and motivated to support others.
• Experienced (or interested) in working with individuals with SEND.
• Confident in delivering activities that promote skills, independence, and well-being.
• Able to communicate effectively and build positive, trusting relationships.
• Flexible, proactive, and a team player.
Experience in social care, youth work, or education is desirable but not essential
– we value the right attitude and commitment above all.
What We Offer
• The opportunity to work with young adults from across the Tees Valley,
